The cleans on Ghost Of Perdition where he sings "higher" and the acoustic picking comes in is one of my all time favourite moments in music

@Full: Definitely, the lyrics of the t/t stay with you forever and Mikeal sounds so evil with his throaty screams but that performance is so impressive vocally and Mikeal could never hit those fry screams.

Imagine hearing that song live at the height of his vocal strength.

Wasn't Opeth's performance at the Royal Albert Hall essentially that?

I don't remember much from that live album, but I mean like actually being there in front.

Oh yeah that would be fucking brilliant, but I'll settle for being there when they covered 'You Suffer' 5 times :P

Roundhouse Tapes >>>> Royal Albert Hall, as far as the vocal performance is concerned.

Absolutely, such an awesome live band... The performance of The Night And The Silent Water on The Roundhouse Tapes is insane, gives me chills.

I saw Opeth at download just after Watershed came out and Mikael sounded amazing on Ghost of Perdition and The Lotus Eater! Also his 'banter' between songs was top notch.

I passed on seeing Opeth live back in '09 cos' I was going through a bad breakup and my ex was there too.

I haven't forgiven that bitch to this day.

Mikael started going through a rough patch '09-'10.

Ever since then his growls have gotten a little better but the low end has completely gone, RIP.

Mediocre 'peth would've still been better than pretty much anything else

Yeah, it fuses all of Opeth's styles perfectly into one really cohesive record.

Will always be my tops from them.....the newer stuff is ok, but becomes really depressing to listen to on the grand scale of their discog.....this coming from a progressive rocker

I guess it's just not Opeth dude that's the issue.

Sure the playing is competent but even i miss the signature Opeth sound.

Not bothered about the lack of growls, just want some damn inspiration instead of treading past waters.
