Initially, it took me a while to get into this album. It's probably because I regard the album's first two songs as the weakest of the lot, and the rest of the album left me feeling very pleasantly surprised. For that reason, the album was a real grower for me, not only that, but the fluency of the album from start to finish was excellent too I thought. The second half I prefer to the first, if only because there seems to me to be a lot more emotional depth, specifically in songs like the title track and "A Veil is Lifted". However, I don't disregard the explosive, aggressive impact of earlier songs such as "Gardens of Coprolite", which for me injected a little bit of oomph into the album's overall sound. So yeah, I really enjoyed this release in the end.

Still listen to this every day. Absolutely obsessed with it. Glad to see the project didn't stay dead after he released "Massive..." In 2007.

What happened back in 2007 that made the project "die"?

He had an issue with his then label Moribund and it was such a struggle, he just disbanded the project until those issues were dealt with. Which I'm assuming was 2011 cause that's when he signed on with Profound. An it was a big deal that record even got released under Leviathan in 07/08 cause he mentioned in an interview releasing it under the Lurker of Chalice name to avoid conflict with Moribund.

Yeah, one guy even posted pictures from his car of when he put the cd in, it read Lurker of Chalice and all of the song titles were different than what the back of the album said.

I thought this was underwhelming compared to Massive but it's better than True Traitor

Yeah, same. I love the atmosphere in VI-XI-VI. The way the song just stops and goes into that ambient section halfway through is awesome.

I absolutely agree with that, Spirit. They flow together so well. I can't remember the last time I listened to a record this much upon its release.
