I wouldn't say it's promising considering the mildly boring country edge that new song had, but yes, it could be great

I'm rarely a fan of outtake releases

The one they did after The King is Dead was solid.

Why is this one of their lower rated releases? It's in their top half, at least.

It's definitely in my bottom half, but that's still a 4 for me

To me this is right on par with The King Is Dead, which lands it near the top but still behind Crane Wife

I agree though that this album is underrated. Imo King is Dead is extremely underrated.

they opened with A Beginning Song when i saw them this summer. it ruled. i didnt expect this album to be as good as it is in a live setting. Anti-summersong was way better in concert.

Everything these guy do sounds awesome in a live setting. One of a handful of bands that really blew me away when I saw them live.

This is going to be forgotten on a lot of year end lists so I just wanted to stop by and show some love
Keep on doing your thing Colin Meloy

Still up there for me, but not top 10.

At the moment, it'll just about sneak into my top 10. Such a good album and I agree, it's gonna be forgotten.

I totally forgot about this one. I listened to it a lot for about a month.

I like reminding myself how lovely this album is. Lake Song is probably one of my favourite songs from 2015.

still haven't gotten around to this. The last two releases just killed this band for me. Hopefully this is as creative or thematic as picaresque or crane wife.

Unfortunately for you this is much more in the vein of The King Is Dead, which is my favorite Decemberists album. I honestly don't understand the hate that that one and The Hazards of Love get, they're some of my favorites by them.
