it's mostly their image that bothers me, whereas the music is take-it-or-leave-it. the rebel outsider thing is painfully melodramatic...I haven't heard most of their stuff but what I have is full of really generic lyrics and complaints about phantom problems. but if that's what you need, then it's what you need and I'll go listen to my death metal that doesn't make any more or less sense. but like, they're not fighting for acceptance and their lives aren't shitty (except maybe Andy, because he's gonna get throat cancer from smoking) so the woe-is-me thing feels pretty inauthentic. but I realize that once they have a professional shtick they have to keep to it, so it's whatev.
for what it's worth, I'd still love to be as pretty as any of them.

Did you try Andy's side project, Andy Black? If you don't like the rebellious attitude of BVB and want writing about more mature subjects and different instrumental styles (along with features from Matt Skiba, Gerard Way, Travis Barker, etc) you should jam it.
Their image doesn't bother me honestly, but I used to have hair highlights and wore all the hot topic merch under the sun.
