Can’t believe nobody is discussing it. Man this site is quiet.

I think it's for his Johnny Blue Skies project: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QKHGmFvzjJ4

Apparently this wasn't going to do a digital release as a fuck you to streaming services. But he just uploaded the album himself to Youtube instead so everyone can listen for free. Truly the Waylon of our times.

Also apparently the songs are all about bumping uglies lol

Yep, I knew he had a new Johnny Blue Skies record coming out. First one is probably my least fav Sturgill, but still enjoyable.

Guys lost his marbles. I can't believe he's the same guy that made HTM or Metamodern

Not a fan honestly. He started losing me at a Sailors Guide, but I dug Dood & Juanita.

I'm a country music nut though so, a little biased.

I appreciate that he does what he wants but I remember not being super impressed by what I'd heard from Johnny Blue Skies. Although listening now and I'm digging the disco lol

Yeah I wasn’t a big fan of the first Johnny Blue Skies record. It was nice but a little forgettable. This new one has way more energy, I love the disc and funk vibes, and I think this will translate WAAAY better to his live shows. Lots of potential for some sick long form jams here.

New one is solid but there's only so much disco I can get down tonight with. It's pretty fun in a novelty sort of way though. Definitely agree it'll be easy for him to slot some songs into his sets though, they'd probably pop off!
