band is defo that good and hmm I guess this isn't the worst start point; maybe go with Repetition for their posthxc years or Leaves for, uh, Leaves, but this is q a cool transition album
and yeah Natural Disasters is the business

bumped my rating for this one. it felt weird having it at a 3.5 considering this is one of my favorite bands ever
the second half here is really on point

this and a single history are the sleeper unwound albums tbh really the best like, ~hard~ unwound songs here and on that one

great stuff on there but I've only spun it a few times. will do it again soon

honestly like this more than repetition and fake train. might be my third fav unwound after new plastic ideas and leaves

okay yea this is good

idk if this is a hot take but disappoint is a better closer than swan
|
| |
Album Rating: 4.3
Would give that a few spice points, but I can vaguely get behind it - however, idk if Swan would have worked anywhere else, whereas Disappoint already does

Album Rating: 4.5
If it wasn't for the drone-y distorted outro I'd argue it can fit in quite a few places nicely. Disappoint however feels like an emotional catharsis and has a sense of finality to it that perfectly encapsulates the experience of the album as a whole

Hmmm yes, both are a little patchy but Repetition is also top-heavy and this has more grit. 3rd best Unwound bby

"Maybe this is better than Repetition hmm"
That's a no from me dawg. And we also seem to be forgetting that Fake Train>this ;)
The first two tracks and the whole second half here are absolutely on par with Repetition/Fake Train, but tracks 3-6 (if we count Pardon My French) are kinda meh by Unwound standards

Album Rating: 4.5
fake train is def not > this though tbh this is like tied for second best unwound ez

Album Rating: 4.0
I need to revisit their earlier material but I get the impression the band just went from strength to strength and this was a turning point of sorts - not that they necessarily ‘needed’ one, just a possible preference developing.
I love Repetition and this one might be nearly as good.
