isn't he dead at the beginning of the movie

He gets killed once stuff starts going down, yes. Before that he's a jerk to everyone and snorts a ton of coke. However though that bit up is a genius.

Nice review man. Gotta jam this more but this feels too much like heritage to me.

Thanks mongi, yeah hopefully their next release will sound a little more original and not quite so dated. Though I thought this did a good job of toning that down a little bit from heritage

Completely natural progression with Opeth exploring the music through their own skin and not through an ideological lens. Lyrics are typical, but the instrumentation is not only better than heritage, but doesn't sound like it's dated.

On that point, so many people are hating on the production calling it 'dated' when Mikael had stated in interviews than when they sat down to record the music (both Heritage and Pale Communion), they wanted to re-create the atmosphere and sound from those older periods, going as far as to exclusively using antiquated hardware to achieve that goal. It sounds 'dated' on purpose.

Excellent album. Loving the atmosphere, production, and grooves that they weren't comfortable holding on Heritage.

I'm enjoying this so far on first listen but I've not really listened to much Opeth. Now that we're
approaching autumn I'll probably get back into some heavier stuff so I'll be sure to listen to their
discography at some point.
