I'm hype for some new DH if the fans are the influence. We just want them to sound their best anyway. Plus DH has never put out a bad album. This is their only misstep and even this has great moments.

It does. All of it is well crafted but some of it just sounds so damn generic

I agree though, i wish theyd make the record they want to make. Theyve seemed so disingenuous lately.

None of these tracks sound as good as Paradox. They're not bad but they get old real quick

Finally listening to this and it's not near as bad as I was expecting

They've never been completely generic and are sometimes fantastic.

I was a big fan of Deliver Us and Undoing Ruin back in high school and I've never been totally sure that it wasn't just nostalgia that made me love them but there's definitely something special there in all of their stuff

Anti-Axis is absolutely terrible tho

pretty sure everything that was good about The Human Romance isn't here and everything that's good here wasn't in The Human Romance
Old stuff was still clearly best though

I actually love Anti Axis lol. I feel like if any other band tried to make that song I'd hate it. John Henry's vox really give this album that extra edge it needed

At least they haven't ventured into All That Remains territory and released unbearably uninspired stuff.

Oh god don't get me started on those guys.

Used to work with someone whose favorite band was All That Remains..........lol

Saw them last night. Only thing they played off this was Rapture In Exile. But they also played Undoing Ruin in it's entirety.
Show was fucking righteous.

Sounds incredible. Wish I could see them play Deliver us in it's entirety. Hearing the solo to Tunguska would make my soul slip from my body

I was really hoping to hear them play Deliver Us. The outro of that song crushes me.

That's surprising as hell, though I'm pretty sure Ryan Parrish recorded with Ballou while he was in City of Caterpillar. At least we know it'll sound raw. Hopefully they go back to the Hidden Hands sound with a few of the good tricks they've learned since then.
