I love the bouncy section, probably their happiest moment yet.

Love two specific sections in this album, the 4:40 of Heir Apparent and the well known bouncy-funky one of Lotus Eater. Great album though I'd like something that seems to be missing. Maybe I'll bump it to a 4 some day.
Thanks Talons, your review has shed some light on the record's concept. Great review, earned another pos today.

Glad you got something out of the review Myth, that was the point to try and shed some light on what the album meant. And agreed to an extent Nero but each song is so good it doesn't really bother me.

"This album is just too disjointed"
You mean it has character and keeps things interesting? I like how it feels like a puzzle where the pieces don't quite fit, adds to the creepy atmosphere.

The review, like the album, is god tier.

This would be god tier if it wasn't for Porcelain Heart being the worst song Mike ever wrote.

Opeth have for sure written worse songs than Porcelain Heart, especially in the past decade.
