maybe 'menacing'? I dunno, but that singer doesn't give the impression that he's up to any good.

more claustrophobic or paranoid to me

sounds more like he's a 'victim' than an 'antagonist'

Not at all

But I get a lot of This Heat vibes, and the intro to "A Little God..." reminds me of Dismemberment Plan hard

the atmospheres carved out by the bass are very post aenima tool-esque as well is the tendency for the guitars to take up a repetitive rhythmic position to allow the percussive and atmospheric elements build more instead. and also how maynard and gira both sound like fucking redneck pig fuckers sometimes, that too.

dont hear this heat vibes nearly as much

Actually now that I think about it the first song does remind me a little bit of how Tool sounds in terms of bassline and stuff, yeah i think yr right, but it's probably just cuz both of these guys embraced "tribal" elements into their sound

That's pretty much the only song tho, but I've only listened once so needs more time

Some instant classic one-liners from Gira on this one, but The Seer had "space cunt".

There's def some Floyd here and there but there's always been to some extent, Ummagumma is like one of Gira's fav albums ever I think

oh and some people say some of the songs are "Tom Waits-y" but I haven't heard much Tom Waits so idk

fripp, you might be right. apparently annie clark did her vocal parts a bunch to perfect it and impress gira. they're gonna be the hot new couple of '14.
