Of all the albums that were with me in the formative years this and Automatic for the People are the two that still blow me socks off.

The two albums belong together I think, there's something they share that's hard to totally define.

I prefer Mighty Joe Moon but these are a great pair of albums

Really dropped the ball never listening to this, this is excellent. Even worse because I have Mighty Joe Moon on CD and never got around to listening to that either.

‘I prefer Mighty Joe Moon but these are a great pair of albums’
I have a lot of fondness for all four albums, and actually Jubilee is my most played album by them and Bethlehem Steel off ‘Copperopolis’ is my most played tune and just about favourite song of theirs.

This will probably bump up to a 4.5 at some point, really do love this

CrisS - take the time to check out all of their albums eventually, they all have their own thing going for them.
Jubilee is the ultimate mainstream/'arena' style of this alt rock, some absolute tunes on that one. Did take me about ten full listens to really land on that opinion though, so it might not jump out straight away.

Definitely will Doof. I went back and listened to Mighty Joe Moon and really enjoyed that as well. I give this the edge because I think it's more consistent, but there are some great songs on there too like Honey Don't Think and Mockingbirds. Looking forward to exploring the rest throughout the remainder of this year.

This - Definitive
Mighty Joe Moon - An extension of this but lacks a bit of the mystery and magic
Copperopolis - The magic had gone but it does have some amazing songs. Some of their best.
Jubilee - Arena rock with some moments

'Jubilee' is many times better than REM's 'Monster' and not so far behind Radiohead's 'The Bends' for me...it arrived a bit after the party (1998) but not going to hold that against it.
Grant-Lee's vocals are so good singing those arena sized choruses, for what it is it's immense. A 4.5 album for me now.
Copperopolis has a few snoozy sections, maybe a bit of self cannibalism after the first two.
