MCR does some great stuff with their music. I like the fact that the guitar isn't really set. Both guitarists have their own distinct styles and they both get to play solo and rhythm.

i agree with 1039, this album is complete and utter shit, it is emo (there is no such thing as "horror rock"), ectremely whiny and it just plain sucks

I have no "beef" with this album. They're probably the most talented pop rock/pop punk bands out there and not all of their shit sounds the same. I enjoyed this as much as their first one. And I wouldn't consider gerard extremely whiny...not very whiney at all actually.

I seriously doubt you know what emo is. Have you ever even heard of Saetia, Rites of Spring etc...

Helena is a very 'emo' song. But not the entire album.

Good review. I think the best thing about MCR is that they are refreshingly creative. Though it is easy to compare them to TBS and Coheed and the Used, I wouldn't say that deters the undeniable originality of the band. To see a band like this emerge makes me happy it isn't another Simple Plan or All American Rejects. (Calm down AAR fans it's just an opinion)

You can sound goth by creating music that fits in with the genre of Gothic Rock. Not such a hard concept to grasp.

I have to say, this album has made a much bigger impression on me since I heard it live. It was that much better I don't listen to the CD so much because it doesn't compare. Helena was amazing live, as was The Ghost Of You which is still my favourite song on the album.

And he can scream. I heard it and I'm not ignorant to a good sounding scream, I know it sounded good.

O good god they suck live. O my god they're absoulely terrible. Gerard runs out of breath and pants out his words and the bass rides over everything.

I still do like this album by the way, I'm not just saying it isn't emo because I don't like the band.

This is a very well written review so well done.

Fave track from the album was You Know What They Do To Guys Like Us in Prison?

Ufortunately my opinion in MCR was brought down by their absolutely horrible live performance.
