I actually find Tilian's parts to be the most interesting thing here, but for the most part they're just as saccharine and cheesy as they are on his solo album. There's like one Mess segment on the entire album that holds my interest at all, which is fucking odd, because they're usually filled with really cool hooks.

The more I listen to this the less I like it, especially since it has made me go back and listen to their other albums and realize how much better they are.

Breadstick keeps arguing that this isn't that great, yet won't change his 4. Jonny isn't in the band anymore. He won't shoot up and try to steal your laptop for rating this properly.

you attempted to use big words like "banal and derivative," but they're simply filler for the nothingness that is your review.

"your explanations are filler for the lack of explanations"

"Admittedly, my knowledge of Dance Gavin Dance is fairly limited."

Understatement of the year.

who cares if his knowledge of the band is limited. hes reviewing the album not researching the bands history. and in the review he clearly states why he dislikes the album

"abhorrent combination of tacky post-hardcore and half-assed experimental rock. Each song plays out the same way, with new vocalist Tillian Pearson singing until John Mess comes in screaming. It’s as simple as that. One could almost predict when the shifts come, which is about as exciting as it sounds. The loopy, intertwining guitar lines that play during Pearson’s segments are admittedly neat, that is until they are rinsed and repeated throughout all 11 tracks"

also

"can be attributed to the production, which is comparatively bad when placed next to Downtown Battle Mountain II. Weird moments of auto-tune only compound the problem, especially when added to the amount of bizarrely placed moments that litter the entire record."

seems fair to me

How did this get featured? Oh cuz you're staff that's why.....i don't like this album either, BUT you haven't even heard their self-titles or Happiness? That's the DGD that is actually good.
