Yeah Tech Death uses then from time to time. Good transition tool before a bridge or solo.

you're fucking retarted breakdowns go back to like late 80s. Ever heard of Napalm Death or any fucking old school grind band?

they used to be sick, you just don't understand because you were born in the myspacecore generation

breakdowns in most music is when the rhythm gets broken down to a half-time feel, the tempo doesn't necessarily change though

any moment of high energy or climax in a song can be considered a breakdown

i'm talkin even in like, indie. but calling it a breakdown in that context would be dum

sorry you were influenced by the myspacecore generation thinking breakdowns are lame. You have never heard a real breakdown before if that is the case.

I love how Sputnik won't waste an opportunity to bash Periphery when it's there.

periphery isn't anywhere near the worst in the genre but their band members and fans are annoying as hell

if all of their albums were instrumental they would all be 2 points higher for me than they are now

Dam that's at least a 3 assuming you gave only 1s.

That being said I would knock them up a bit too.

From a 2.5 to 3 from a 1.5 to a 2. The instrumentation isn't all that impressive either for them. Especially on II

At least they cut out all the terrible, uninspired riffing from The Discovery and replaced it the chugging they know and love.

I did actually enjoy Recreate which had some nice lead guitar stuff so that makes sense. Other than that I couldn't stomach the rest.
