They have another new song out. They are still all-in on the pop thing. Would like a bit of Glass Handed Kites and Frengers sound in there from time to time but I'm not getting my hopes up. They're such a creative and interesting prog pop band now, but I miss the alt-rock elements for sure.

Frengers is god and GHS is great, but I think No More Stories is the best. Has the quirkiest and most interesting sound I think. Still love +- too. I personally dig the poppier sound too. The two new tracks are awesome. I appreciate some change with Mew. They do no wrong in my eyes.

Carry Me to Safety is my favourite. Love the climax on that song.



I hated 85 Videos. Thought it was great up until the second chorus ("oh angel, I found you...") that sounded so cheesy and tacked on. That part of the chorus could have been removed entirely and the song would have flowed better.



New song I like. Don't love it as much as Carry Me to Safety yet as it's more understated, but it is interesting.

How could anyone hate "85 Videos"? It's the perfect mesh of No More Stories and +-. "85 Videos" was probably my favorite of the new singles released. I was kinda indifferent to "Twist Quest" at first, but it's grown on me a lot and might be my favorite now, but it's still so very different than anything they've ever done. Though, I do have to say, I'm kinda worried about the new album. First off, no Bo. I love his mind-bending guitar riffs. Losing those is quite a blow, though I do feel "85 Videos" still kept the Mew charm without necessarily needing them. I'm unsure if the whole album can follow in its footsteps though Also "Carry Me to Safety" is easily the worst single (to me) and it's the closer and their closers are always very epic and long, and that song is neither. Bad? No. But it's not flooring either. Still excited for the new album, but those are my thoughts thus far anyway. A closer isn't a reason to necessarily be skeptical, but revisit all their other closers and then check "Carry Me to Safety" again and it just feels so disappointingly flat. I'm so helplessly addicted to their discography, regardless, and I'm sure without a doubt I'll enjoy Visuals, but I'm unsure it'll match my expectations. Mew have blessed us with a lot to live up to.
