Grower album for sure. Alpha Omega finally makes sense to me, good lord, what a build that song has.

Album's pretty boring on first listen. We shall see if it grows. I've been liking long albums less and less lately.

It is a pretty terrible band name. But dont judge a book by its cover. Maybe they meant for it to be stupid. Or maybe thats how they spell it in Oz.

Karnivool is one of my fav bands ever. Yes - I said that. This album has been the ultimate let down thus far. I am hoping with more spins it clicks but so far I am veryyyyyy disappointed. Will wait to rate upon more listens.

This clicked with me from the get go. It has grown a bit as well but in comparison to Sound Awake I am quite disappointed that this is how they followed it up.

At this point, I like 6 out of the 14 songs. Also, I hate interlude tracks.

I don't hate interludes but I feel like they weren't used correctly on here

Well, interludes are cool if they serve any kind of purpose. These are straight bullshit, to be frank.

Save interludes for concept albums IMO. Not for an album that just consists of 14 songs. Interludes sound out of place.

New DLC should hopefully be much more stronger than this....hopefully!

I actually haven't checked out much DLC. I might get on that now.

The interludes on this are nothing more than filler garbage in a weak attempt to make people feel like they are getting a lot of songs on the album. So, after I deleted all the bullshit interludes and the songs I couldnt get into, I was left with a 6 track EP.

To be fair, I think Om might be the best song here-- because it isn't marred by so many prototypical progressive tropes. It's nothing more than an ambient, ominous closer, and I really dig it for that. There's at least one thing wrong with every other song here.

"I actually haven't checked out much DLC. I might get on that now."

They're definitely much more action packed and accessible. They have certain songs that have the "progressive" kind of feel to them but they more a straight up alternative rock band with delay heavy guitars and massive choruses,

Also their new song Lost Without Leaders owns hard.

Minus.

Omaha, DLC is actually pretty good. I think you'll dig their stuff quite a bit.

Also, last night while I was on my deliveries I listened to Themata and Sound Awake to get a break from this album and it made me realize how much of a disappointment this truly is. Not even sure why I have this rated a 3.5, maybe loyalty to the band.

Not much off this stands up to the rest of their material. We Are, Aeons, Sky Machine and Eidolon are bangers but other than that it's kinda mediocre. Might lower to a 3.5.

And yeah, listening to Sound Awake after this just reinforces how disappointing this album is. On a brighter note, this album ended up No. 1 on the Australian Music Charts. Hopefully they can get off their arses and get an album out before another 4 years.
