This is easily better than Themata which I feel is between 3 and 3.5

This is 4+, on my third listen right now and Nacash has clicked for me, really like that track now. We Are is as good as ever.

Need to stop listening, gonna burn it out haha. Giving a day or two off. Then gonna go back and revisit to see if anything changes.

Oh I absolutely agree, this isn't an album you can rate after one or two listens I feel. I remember not getting Sound Awake at all at first and then the second listen blew me away. It's such an improvement on Themata. I feel this album, while perhaps not able to reach Sounds Awake in terms of overall quality, is probably the most varied and interesting album they've written to date.

Also loving the hate Asymmetry is getting, it's supposed to sound really grating and oh, I don't know... Asymmetrical?

I still vote Themata was their best. If every song on Sound Awake had been as good as Deadman it'd be another story.

I'm not sure I'm finding the same awesomeness in this album as most of you. I find some parts of Asymmetry very

unfocused and unfortunately a bit dull. I notice it's quite cymbal-heavy, and there is less power to the guitar work. I can

tell it's a good album. I can tell with it, Karnivool have now formed their own unique sound and no longer need the

comparisons to other bands to justify how good they are. But yes, I really wanted more of the Refusal and less of the

meandering quietude.... Maybe this will change with time and some concentration put towards the lyrics, but as it stands,

I really think Themata and Sound Awake are more fun to listen to.

I'm not huge on Themata, but Sound Awake is definitely more fun initially. But this one really does get better when replayed. And, if you prefer guitar-dominated songs this album is a tough pill to swallow.

"SPUTNIK RATINGS MUST EQUAL MY JUDGMENT OR ELSE aka drummerboy"

Lol. Kinda ironic that that wasn't what my rant was about. Also spelling judgement without an E is a sin.

Like I said I don't care if people don't like it. It annoys me however when people just say; "Oh it sucks, sounds like Tool, false prog, karnifools, borng zzzzzz, shit band name"

They leave no actual musical discussion which is what this site is supposed to be about.

I agree with you drummerboy about those tool comments. Just cause a band sounds like their influences doesn't automatically make them bad. To me that's a good thing.
