It takes a lot of moments from Constellations and tightens them up.

@lowfatyogurt: thanks! I didn't mention Thrill Seeker at all but I probably should have in retrospect. I made it sound like Messengers was their first album :/

Nah, you got it all there. I sense some Thrill Seeker vivacity here, but that can be directed to Messengers as well, as it was easily their most aggressive release.

Jake sounds awesome once again thankfully. I was worried with his vocals from last album but if I remember correctly he recorded them sick.

I'm giving this a listen now. First track is definitely very Constellations-esque which isn't a bad thing at all. Expecting a pretty great album.

Jake is definitely the worst part of the band. I cannot stand the dude's vocals. Constellations is still by far their best, but at least this album shit's all over Leveler. For a guitarist that says he no longer finds Metalcore interesting he sure as hell abused the hell out of the breakdown on this album. Not only that, but the breakdowns are not interesting and follow the same damn pattern of "short breakdown with china directly into a lead guitar part with the same rhythmic pattern, repeat". The entire album I was attempting to grasp onto something. It all felt really disjointed; something is missing. I think they should take a few extra years for the next album to make sure they actually come up with something truly great. There are some great melodies which save the album from being a mess. This album had a ton of potential, but falls much shorter than expected.

It's awesome but I really hope not especially with this year's musical output, it's hard to even keep up with.
