ok this reminds me of machine men anyone heard that band?
Just checked them on Spotify and they're pretty terrible. Nasally vocalist, chugga-chugga riffs... 40 Below Summer does that sound way better.

well the machine men singer is like a bad bruce dickinson and todd latorre is a good singer but he just sounds like high-pitched tate clone #4589234816

and most of the songs on this album sound like typical "hard" mainstream rock, with disturbed-esque riffs (with some maiden-y melodic bits to trick their dumbest fans into believing that this is a return-to-form) and none of the power or energy that made this band great. ive listened to the stream once though, so hopefully it'll grow on me, and i can certainly see how a guy like you would think this was better than empire or promised land

and here's something funny - after the stream finished i pulled up some machine men to refresh myself on what they sounded like and a few minutes passed and i thought i was still listening to the new queensryche. hope that gives you more insight

and trust me im definitely not being titan by screaming THIS ISNT THE REAL QUEENSRYCHE over and over, lets be honest, neither of these new albums is the "real queensryche" whatever the fuck that means. just 2 bands feuding, luckily this incarnation is certainly better and more willing to move forward whereas tate's going around touring operation mindcrime AGAIN and not even playin songs off of FU because he knows it blows dick

The Machine Men singer is just bad. The fact that he sounds nothing like Bruce Dickinson just goes to show how limited your scope is when you try to say they sound anything alike.

Todd La Torre is trying to emulate Tate's style to a large degree. The band is trying to ease fans into the new vocalist, and it mostly seems to be working. Even you think he's pulling it off.

There's also no Disturbed influence in this album (but their bass player is with Geoff Tate right now). Again, you're showing your limited scope by trying to force two things together that sound nothing alike. Other than the Mindcrime album, this band rarely had a lot of energy behind their songs. Most their songs are mid-paced or slower.

The only thing your second post proves is that you paid very little attention to the stream (as if your Disturbed comparison hadn't already proven that).

i said the machine men guy sounds like a bad bruce dickinson, machine men started off as a maiden cover band and there's an obvious dickinson/tate influence in his vocals. latorre is merely another tribute band singer, whats the big deal.

i didnt say there was a disturbed influence perse, i was implying that a lot of these songs sound like the type of watered down mainstream rock bullshit that a band like disturbed would be putting out. but then again im talking to a guy who thinks that death magnetic is better than master of puppets and a guy who hadnt even listened to an iron maiden album until about 3 weeks ago.

and who says that mid-paced or slower songs cant have energy? rage for order has a bit of balls to it, even empire which i dont even give a shit about has an edge to it that this album for the most part lacks

but like i said im talking to a guy with the most backwards ass taste out of any metalhead ive every met, so more power to you to keep thinking that this is better than abbey road or something. not that you've heard that album, its not progressive metal or industrial.

but then again i dont even know why i fell for the hype because i dont even like promised land save a few songs, and empire's just a 3, maybe a 3.5 at best for me. love their 80s stuff but i guess thats because my scope is limited

Who cares what cover band they started out as? That still doesn't mean their vocalist was able to pull off a similar style. They were a cover band for fucks sake. Close enough is good enough.

Again, this sounds nothing like Disturbed or even their style/genre of music. I do think Death Magnetic is about as good as Master of Puppets. I'm not a metalhead and never claimed to be one. It's one of many genres that I listen to, and that means that I don't have to pretend to love every 'classic' in the metal genre in some retarded attempt to prove how metal I am.

Most of Iron Maiden's discography is good at best. They had a good run that had totally shit out by 1990. Iron Maiden: fuck yeah.

mid-paced or slower songs can have balls and/or power or even an 'edge'. Energy, not so much.

PS: fuck the Beatles. Liking every old ass piece of music that you come across in some stupid attempt to build credibility is something you'll eventually grow out of as soon as you stop using music as part of your image and personality.

edit:

but then again i dont even know why i fell for the hype because i dont even like promised land save a few songs, and empire's just a 3, maybe a 3.5 at best for me.
Yep, and in the review and in comments I compared this album mostly to Empire and yet you somehow still didn't make the connection.

edit:
i mean for fucks sake a guy who likes 4 bands telling me my scope is too limited to appreciate the new queensryche album
Your scope is too limited to make accurate comparisons. Your opinion of the album has nothing to do with that.

so you think anyone who likes the beatles is just doing it to build credibility? what kind of fucked up stupid world do you live in?

you're not even worthy of a response you're so fucking warped. the beatles were the first band i ever listened to, and they're great. not all of us were lucky enough to have a band like queensryche as our introduction to music, a band that made 2 good albums and a bunch of other records ranging from mediocre to flat out terrible.

Look at the quote below. You're the one that seemed to think that liking or not liking the Beatles added or subtracted credibility despite this album having nothing to do with them in the slightest. At least the Iron Maiden references could be justified.

so more power to you to keep thinking that this is better than abbey road or something. not that you've heard that album, its not progressive metal or industrial.

I'm not sure what you're hoping to accomplish by pretending that I only listen to two genres of music. My musical preferences are most likely much more diverse than yours, but most of them would have nothing to do with this album which we are currently discussing so why would I rattle off random releases that you haven't heard or don't like?

a band that made 2 good albums and a bunch of other records ranging from mediocre to flat out terrible.
That basically describes most of the bands you seem to like. Iron Maiden, Metallica and Megadeth come to mind with mostly terrible discographies. Also, the more shit you talk about this album the more I am surprised that you even thought about 'buying into the hype'. It's obvious you dislike most their discography, yet here you are angry and disappointed.
