lakes, I barely go to that site anymore (because nothing there interests me).
sorry, andcas. I can't really find any of the actual members of the band saying shit, most of it was on twitter and whatnot anyways, but I'm fairly certain they said stuff on the actual site. they must've deleted them. anyways, they also got some of their buddy buddies to help them out too, look: Actually the vocalist can, seeing as I am definitely the only person in this thread who has made 2 albums with him (KTTY and SLB) I can tell you he is a great singer, but the team choose to not use pitch correction. Any singer can hit the notes if they have enough time in the studio, but on every single record you have to make a decision whether how you are going to delegate your time. Will you delegate it to having hours on end for the singer to hit every note right? Will you let them sing it decently then pitch correct or will you get what you personally consider a raw and emotive take and then let it be raw cause thats how you want your record to sound. The team choose their direction, but just cause it's not what you would have done or more raw than you would like, just means they choose to make a different flavor record than what you prefer. When comments say ridiculous things like "I think Transit was going for a "raw" sound. Especially in this day and age, raw = garbage. Terrible. Clean up production people!" When half of this thread say that some of their records got too clean. Everyone has different tastes and as a team you make that decision each record. But to say that everything should always be clean as possible is ridiculous. I noticed The Menzingers "On The Impossible Past" seemed to be the most popular record on this site last year (including my own), it's not exactly the most polished record and for that it feels good. Every record you need to strike that balance. Obviously many in this thread aren't feeling the decision they choose, but it is ridiculous to say Joe can't sing or that clean production is always good. I already posted this one, but it's also from "a friend of da band" so whatev's "Also, great review, Thomas. I know it's tough to write a bad review for an album you genuinely like. That comes across in your review. I think sometimes a band needs to be challenged by people who aren't fans... and a lot of people who are close to them won't give them an honest opinion.
You set the gauntlet.

oh here's one from the actual band: Don’t listen to any review of anything you hear, ever.
No one has the same exact taste in anything as you and all a review is, is a worthless opinion.
Tonight, Joe told me, “a review is just a fucking fart in the wind. It stays here for a few seconds
when people notice it, but it’s full of shit and goes away before you know it.” - Joe B.
Don’t listen to reviews, people.

I know that they hate critics, as seen by All Your Heart, but this is quite perplexing and ironic. The only reason why I listened to Transit, and ultimately ended up liking them, is because ap.net gave them a very very positive score.
And imagine what the band was saying about dear old Thomas when he gave L&F 90+%? Obviously, they'd never say such a thing then, but now that they made something that Thomas doesn't like...
