I agree with chan's guess, but also I think it was just a marketing thing, like, they wanted to make the band name more accessible to "regular" people. When you see a group/artist releasing music under a single female name, you draw in the whole singer/songwriter kind of crowd.
People are suckers for cute girls with guitars playing music, and cutting out "and the Cans" makes it seem like this could be some sort of mainstream recording artist or something, idk. I think that's part of the reason, I'm probably full of shit though.
I have decided that Renee is a better opener than Halloween 1/2, which is like, woah, god damn man. I did not think she could top that opening track but she did!! I still like I See Dark more than L-Dopa/The Wheel though, for now.
