I don't like how Jesse sings the chorus in the live Numbered Days track. He changes one important note that really screws with your nostalgia for that song.

They were really good live with Howard. Haven't seen them since 2008, though. And I have no idea how Jesse is with them (though I've heard good things).

In Due Time is still my favorite :D

In Due Time is easily the safest song on here. It's growing on me, but it's still not up there.
Now Beyond the Flames, The Call and No End In Sight. They're the killers.

Yeah there are some killers on here that make it worth listening to multiple times. I'm thinking about
going to 4/5, as this is so enjoyable despite being a bit shallow in structure.

Yeah l like In Due Time.

in due time is pretty safe yea but it's a pretty solid rockin' metalcore tune

Safe for a metalcore song, but for me it is the apex of the album.

Jesse's scream live sounds really worn out. The bonus songs on the CD sound solid but I've watched other performances with him and... eh. Guy has no range any more, or he chooses not to use it at all. Sounds like his voice is on the verge of giving out a lot of the time.

Maybe he has blown his voice out.

well they had to cancel part of a tour at one point because his voice blew out and then he didn't scream for like 5 years so it would make sense

You know he's been screaming for quite some time in his other band right? He claims in interviews he's a better screamer now than he used to be but it certainly doesn't sound like it.

yeah, I have the Empire Shall Fall stuff, I was more referring to like 2003-2008 when he quit KsE and
was in Seemless

It's hard to hear unless you scream yourself, but he's changed his technique. Through AOJB he was screaming with his throat and lungs, giving it a real raspy and violent sound, but it also would've hurt like a bitch and fucked his singing voice. Nowadays he's screaming with his diaphragm with his head voice, so it sounds less aggressive, but is more sustainable. Still, harsh vox are going to take their toll, and it'll sound especially apparent when people are comparing his range to Howard's.
Vocal damage is no joke. My voice is similarly damaged from screaming incorrectly when I was a teen.

Jesse's scream sounds fine to me. His yell/scream may not be as popular since he isn't known for
that as much, but his full scream shreds just as usual. You will notice that his full scream in
Disarm the Discent sounds much broader and powerful than his scream in Alive or Just Breathing,
which sounds a bit "empty," though still killer. I admit that I do like the voice mixing in AOJB
more, as I find Jesse well suited for the raw sound.
His range is pretty limited, but as long as his voice sounds great I don't care. When you think
about it, how many guys out there in metalcore can match Jesse overall? His voice is beautiful when
singing and screaming.
P.S. While song structure may be repetitive, the overall album flow and coherency is nearly perfect
for a popular metalcore album. Whenever I want to listen to just one song, I can't press
pause when the next song comes on. For example, try listening to A Tribute To The Fallen without
listening to the next song. The flow and the fact that that next song slays makes it impossible to
press pause.

I like his screams, there is just not as much power as there used to be.

I just love how raw his voice sounds. So much emotion in his singing.
Howard was brill as well, but it sounded too artificial at certain times. Almost like autotune.
