Pfft, Canadians.

Oh yeah I'll probably receive my mic this week so I'll already try to record some stuff (I'll probably still need to get a proper stand a pop killer for vocs), if it works I might send some your way this or next week.

Idk what that means. Also, I think I read that a stand is advisable because of "shock absorption" and blah blah, something along those lines.
Edit: Shit, I just realized you probably meant "jury rig".

| |
Yeah, Idk. If I can figure out something that wouldn't mean I have to pay 20 bucks for a stand I'll def. go with that if it works. For now I'm content that I'll finally have a fucking mic.
|
| |
Well, I'd guess it also depends on the mic you use, how many mics you use, editing and shit. Or how comfortable you are with it.

you'll want a stand if it's a condenser mic. most dynamic mics it won't be as big an issue but it still helps
|
| |
Yeah, it's a large-diaphragm condenser.

can be pretty noisy when handled. i dunno what you're recording but keeping it fixed and still is a good idea for quality recordings. can see how you go i guess. pop shield is a good idea too, as you mentioned.

"I just recently learned how to pronounce Autehcre (O-tech-er) finally."
didn't they say once that they don't really care how people pronounce it?

Yeah, I know. That's what I meant earlier. As of now I'm looking at vocs, percussion and didge. Hopefully it'll be able to properly record the latter with the right setup - although I read and heard that you can mostly do more with these than just record vocs.
I mean I'll probably have to do some editing/mastering anyway.

I dunno what brand/model mic you bought but a condenser sounds a good fit for recording that combo of sounds. I remember watching a friend record bongos with a couple of mics, sussed it out while checking levels and it was so clear he wouldn't have really needed to EQ a thing. I've never recorded a didge. Craziest shit I've done was probably horns.
hope you have a decent mic pre. mine on my interface at home is terrible.

Nah, it's a USB mic - I don't have a preamp. If I had enough money to buy proper complete setup I would've gone straight for a dynamic mic and a bunch of extras. Good thing is I at least have free access to proper software.
Also, I'm not talking about recording all of that at once if you meant that by combo. (it would be weird if I managed to play didge, sing and play cajon at the same time)

nah, just those three sound sources I meant. should do the trick.
|
| |
Ah yeah, I'd hope so. I hope the ambient noise won't be too heavy, I don't wanna have to edit one line a week so it doesn't sound like an underground BM track. I heard it's a bit more pronounced with USB mics - although I'm not sure how it is with vocs as this was mostly mentioned in the context of podcasts.

plosives have nothing to do with setting gain properly or improperly

Hey, whatever works man
|

this is great shit
|

Well, I've definitely seen people sing into condenser mics without pop shields without having any problems so I don't doubt it's possible.
