Honestly I'd be surprised, if you were careful, if you got trouble from the cartels. I think they're more interested in killing each other than innocent foreigners.

i hear ecuador is awesome, maybe like 2-3 countries in SA would be cool over a two week span. might try to do it over christmas/new year this year or the next, especially since the weather will be >>>>> minnesota!

I was there for a month. About a week in Quito, a week in the Amazon, a week in the Andes (including
going up Cotopaxi) and a week in the western rainforest, roughly. It was more chopped up and spread
out than that but we pretty much experienced everything minus the coast.

I think Argentina would be really cool cos it doesn't seem like anywhere else in South America. I think it just gets a bad press here cos of the political tensions between the UK and Argentina.

nice that would be awesome - wish i could take a long time off, but alas i'm a US indentured servant to the man. i'm better off than most, but still i only get 3 weeks vacation. up to 4 if i go -40 hours in my PTO allotment. my company has only 7 official holidays they give out too :[

Oh, haha, even us slaves that work for the man don't get paid that much. Saving up for this europe vacation pretty much makes going to do anything outside of work and this non-existent. It would be nice it the senate or congress or whoever would ..you know do their job and pass a budget that does not screw the most of the country.

band/album kicks ass..but i really do not understand the concept of "hipster metal"..I saw someone refer to KEN Mode as 'hipster metal' recently, too. There is an annoying amount of subgenres these days.
