jesus christ alright sorry, point redacted. you win.

"my problem" was that you seem to be nitpicking every review lately, even when it's not needed. but, you say you were being "clearly polite" so whatever, have at it.

Yeah toxin, you really are over-analyzing every review that seems to pop up

Also agreed with aids with the whole "even when it's not needed."

So...yeah..

Since when have you been one of the people who complain about criticism? I found something I didn't really like in the review, I point it out. And will you look at that, he ends up explaining his point of view, and it leads me to better understand his review. Where exactly is the issue? And I'm not even sure what reviews I have "over-analyzed" so please point me in the direction of "unnecessary" criticisms (and apparently it's objective how unnecessary these criticisms are).

even when it's not needed

Please, both of you, explain to me when criticism is and isn't needed. If there's some status quo saying that if 95% of a review is great (fantastic even) then you're not allowed to critique it at all, please explain the reasoning in very simple, clear terms to me, because I'm clearly too stupid to have noticed it. And while you're at it, can you explain what the frequency has to do with anything? "Your critiques would have been okay if in the last thirty days you hadn't critiqued anything else. But because you have, suddenly your critique on this particular review is unnecessary."

Apologies for the wall of text, and I assure you I'm not angry or anything. But I'm genuinely curious when I see that one of Sputnik's more intelligent users complains about simple, constructive criticism.

And as for whether it's organic; 'mutating', 'fat' and 'skeletal' are all words I associate with living tissue. If I ever find an album as good as this again, I'll make sure my review goes into the depths (or heights?) of clarity when pursuing inspired tangents of thought.

I recommend checking out as much of Greek myth as possible, it's endlessly fascinating and surprisingly relevant

i've heard bits and pieces of this but am honestly just gonna shell out some cash for the vinyl before i listen in its entirety. what ive heard already justifies the purchase

first of all, try to be more succinct. that post is a wall of text but it could have easily been 2-3 lines.

my issue was that you seemed to be looking for things to critique, rather than having them come up naturally. Now, you've done quite a bit to assure me that that was not the case, so I concede that you were just looking to engage in some healthy constructive criticism. I've just been seeing you tear apart so many reviews lately, and it seems like you're just doing so to put others in their place, or something. Adash is one of the best writers on this site, and it looked like you were getting all pissed off that people were enjoying his review. Again, I'll take your word that you weren't aiming for that, so, ok, fine.

Maybe just try being a little more pleasant when interacting with people if what you're aiming for is "simple, constructive criticism," because that's not what it seemed like you were doing at first.

tldr... condensed version: my bad, carry on, but maybe just try being a little less intense next time (lol coming from me).

Ah surely fair enough. I got images of something really grotesque. For example, the depictions of humans in Wall-E was anything but organic and natural, so seeing these terms used in reference to something organic just seemed like a misnomer. With that said, that's my own biases getting in the way. You've explained it well enough to me, so honestly I hope the second sentence is just self-reflection versus my posts making you change your style. In fact, IMO this explanation is unnecessary in your review.

"my issue was that you seemed to be looking for things to critique, rather than having them come up naturally."

Fair enough. I take issue with the idea that we shouldn't be looking for things to critique in the first place. Obviously there's a difference between making things up to critique, and simply being hypercritical to help improve an already great review. I'd hope that at worst, I come off as the latter.

"it looked like you were getting all pissed off that people were enjoying his review."

Let's cut to the chase. It's clear you think I have some self-aggrandizing agenda when it comes to any criticisms I offer. Believe me when I tell you that's hilariously off-base. I consistently tear up my reviews, too, but the difference is it's my work, so I just edit it instead of posting about it. Plus I can list at least a dozen users who are better writers (especially about music) than me. So I suggest you stop trying to create agenda behind my posts---it might make you dislike me less too, and we could all use less dislike in our lives.

"Maybe just try being a little more pleasant when interacting with people if what you're aiming for is "simple, constructive criticism,""

Duly noted

And I'm just a wordy person. Being succinct isn't my primary goal when posting, sorry to disappoint.

toxin - ok fine, whatever you say. Talking with you is way more of an ordeal than it should be. So you "win" or whatever but I really don't want to have to read any more walls of text from you so this can be the end of our interaction please.

don't you dislike Autechre to begin with? (or am I thinking of someone else?) this won't change your mind. and you'll definitely dismiss it unless you commit to giving it like 5 or 6 serious listens. it's a dense album, but really rewarding if you're patient.
