PaperhatsspqrcenotaphmakeshiftswahilianewtypeOfwater>horizontal hold> rest of this album (though there are two or three other songs roughly on HH’s level). Jury out on rest of Deceit’s placement, but all told yah Deceit blows this one out the dam water

this is better than Deceit but umm .. [sona’s 5s here?]
idk I think this one is thematically so much more interesting than Deceit. the various compositional references are nuts and are recontextualized in brilliant ways imo

I guess I have a very general orientation past 5-7yrs toward "pop" and not "the avant-garde", maybe

I don’t really consider This Heat to be avante-garde rly, but they seem/seemed like big fans of it and utilized those elements in their own music in great ways
|
| |
well I didnt mean to call Deceit "pop" certainly ha, just more that it's moreso or whatever
|
| |
they're both brilliant. deceit is obv way more palatable, whereas this one is sometimes too challenging for its own good. definitely a "need to be in the right headspace for" album, but when i am, it's one of the most unsettling ambient/experimental albums i've ever heard

seeing these guys live would have been insane. or like I listen to the music and imagine that tot be the case
