lol in what way is it homogenous?

Inconsequential genre-jumping, overuse of that synthetic guitar tone, the boring djent-esque tendencies and just the general ersatz feel of the whole thing. I was hoping for something more and instead got a watered down retread of Silent Machine, with overly polished production to boot.

what you just described doesn't equal homogenous, but hey man if you don't like it then you don't like it

Genre-jumping is the opposite of homogenous regardless of how you feel about it...

I really don't like it and would certain claim Asymmetry to be infinitely better than this in almost every regard

All right, how about bland and uninspired?

He's kinda right though. It's pretty annoying when a band relies on shoving together different styles
of music rather than focusing on actual songwriting. It's not even a matter of diversity, it's just an
awkward compilation of genre clichés with ok-hooks tying them together.

Puzzles, I think you're generally a cool dude and have good taste in music, but everything you've said is basically what people have said about Karnivool's [insert album here]. The difference is that this has more hooks than Asymmetry and is generally a much more fun album. And I have ADD so genre-jumping is a-ok with me.

Personally, I like songs that have surprises. One of my favourite pieces of music ever is the random reggae interlude in the middle of the live version of Learning to Live. The genre jumping here is much better transitioned than the section changes on Periphery II, for example.

TFN are sweet, but they couldn't match the level of Karnivool.
