Actually took a listen to this for the hell of it. Vocals are painfully generic.

Eek, just heard a few songs off this, I don't know why I listened :/

God, at times it sounds like he is trying to emulate Disturbed.
|
| |
he probably is

@UnnamedOcean, I thought that too! Good thing it's not just me. Fall of Ideals was generic but I still enjoyed it on a really superficial level because it was catchy, but this is just a little too meh for me...I haven't listened to all of it so I won't rate this but I really don't want to aha too much good music out there to waste my time

"God, at times it sounds like he is trying to emulate Disturbed."
ah fuck this not even going to listen
|
| |
yeah i'm not gonna bother
|

Good decision

So these guys have been steadily going downhill since Fall of Ideals, right? Won't listen if so.

Zibelping, yes. Thats exactly my thoughts at least. TFOI>Overcome>>FWAM>>>This. This is.. Damn. No.
@ Shogun, Well yea i know where you come from with that, but still AILD remain a decent listen. I mean, Fever and A War You Cannot Win are way worse than Awakened, which is not that shabby itself. But yea, downfalling all the same. Hope next AILD release gets me pumped again!

Been listening to this all day at work and I'm going on the record, pardon the pun, that this album is growing all over me like a pink fungus.
Completely agree it's over-produced, commercialized, radio-friendly "metalcore" of the cheesiest variety, yet I'm drawn to it like a fly to week-old dung.
Hard to believe such a concept is even possible, but this album succeeds as an even less-heavy version of recent releases by AILD and Shadows Fall that emphasize melody and catchiness vibes over traditional metal production values. Mission accomplished.
If you barely liked Fall of Ideals and/or hate older metalcore, don't even bother, you'll vomit your front cortex in its proximity. I'll chalk it up and stand by it as a guilty pleasure.
Having said all that I still think the Deftones aren't metal and suck.
Bring it on.

Nah he seems to have gained some kind of personal proximity for the album. Phil's cleans can be seductive mate.
Haha jk. Nah well, i know what you mean.. Putting in perspective makes it look better indeed, but for me there's no way around. They just focused on making the most washed up brand of metalcore, put any technical effort aside, to make it sound... Idk anymore. Even using focused to describe this doesnt come easy lol. I used to love these guys but they just went wack.

I agree it's not lolbad, but it sounds like Duaghtry went Metalcore. (Side note, when I was writing a review for this that was my summary :D)

Haha, would have made one of those funny summaries i like to read, but are rather unprofessional. Cool you shared! lol
Deftones is not my cup of tea, but they seem to have gotten pretty far with that formula of theirs, and Chino Morenos kewl vocals. lol Deftones from the eyes of an outsider haha

It sucks completely but i love it! ??
Yes, it sucks righteously and I'm letting it drain me dry. God help me.

Probably why he called it a guilty pleasure.
My favorite part about his post was when he said Deftones suck, and they aren't metal.

If the term pop-core doesn't exist, this record should make it. Sounds like pop music gone way to heavy. And whoever made the "sounds like Disturbed" comment is spot on. Daughtry and Drahman both come across in spades on this release. That being said, aside from the two ballads it isn't the most horrible thing in existence.
