i actually like the lyrics on In Absentia a lot. the whole concept about the dude being a broken man and eventually murdering his family, i think its brilliant.

I will give you that, his lyrics on newer albums are conceptually cool but it's just how he delivers them that really makes me irk.

Damn Wiz, wouldn't have put you down as someone who likes Wilson.
His best work is still Blackwater Park and he just produced/ mixed/ and engineered that masterpiece. His work is either amazing or sucks a huge amount of dick (ie. Storm Corrosion and his solo shit is just bottom of the barrel terrible).

Storm Corrosion rules and so does his solo albums they're just not progressive metal like their original bands and it's just a matter of taste at that point

i wouldn't say bottom of the barrel terrible or anything but i agree that SC and his solo stuff aren't as great as PT and his Opeth work.

In terms of SW work, Sunday is definitely bottom of the barrel for me.

Storm Corrosion is better than most of what Wilson's released in the last decade or so imo.
Also @Wiz: I didn't realise you were such a big fan of later PT. Thinking about it I'm not sure if PT's psychedelic stuff would really be your sort of thing but I guess you won't know if you don't try it.

There days when I like that stuff a little more than IA. It really depends on my mood.

Well I'm one of the few who digs OtSoL, so there you go.
I kinda see it as PT's Rocka Rolla, a curious starting point from whence he evolved musically.
I could prob give this a couple more listens sometime, given how much I dig Russia on Ice.

Sure, sunday is interesting from the standpoint of looking at SW's career, but it's still absolutely terrible from a musical standpoint. at least to these ears

Yea I really don't care about taking it too seriously. It has some great moments, but most of it is just poor music to me :/

Yeah, I guess different people will look at SW's musical evolution differently.
