I hear some people complain about the mix, but at least it has some dynamics unlike 99% of recent metal albums. Whether you dislike heavy synths is a matter of taste.
I agree with the review that it sounds "airy" rather than "metal", but I don't mind that.
Jari could probably write an awesome cheesy Hollywood film soundtrack in the future if he got the chance.

No, it wouldn't. He said it himself: The material was written in early 2006, it's just the lack of resources that made the recording process so long. With Hollywood film composer level of resources at his disposal, this album would have been released in late 2006 as planned, both parts of it, in fact.
