Of all the post-debut stuff Rush has done, this is easily the toughest nut to crack for me. I'm a fan of Bastille Day and, to a degree, I Think I'm Going Bald, but the last two tracks are ironically the ones I get the least

Thinking about the last two tracks some more, I realised I liked sections of the songs a lot but they seemed so haphazardly thrown together to me.

They definitely were still finding their footing with the longer epics here. 2112 is where they get it REALLY right

This might genuinely be their worst album for me. Lakeside Park is a really good song tho.

But what happens if you Rush into Lamneth?

Lakeside Park is also my fav. I find the last two tracks to be just a bit too clunky as a whole even if they have some top tier moments. It's obvious band wanted to do more and they would prove they were capable on follow up in similar vein to what Iron Maiden, Metallica, and Death would.

Crazy to think that after this, Rush' next 8 albums are all bare minimum 4's, if not scraping 4.5's, for me.

So on R40, I saw them in Tampa on May 24th (everyone would gather, on the 24th of May). Although they only played a portion of Lakeside Park on the tour and stopped before that line routinely each night, I figured for sure they would’ve extended it that night but they didn’t. I was stunned!

Im at least glad I got see that part of lakeside park what a gem. That whole r40 tour setlist was a wet dream for die hard fans.

I’ve seen them 32 times and regretfully, R40 ranks near the very bottom for me. I wasn’t crazy with The Anarchist as the opener and definitely didn’t care for the reverse chronological setlist. It was still a great show though.

First two albums I didn't really like. This rips tho
The prog finally fully kicks in it's like rush becoming rush. Bastille day and necromancer go hard. Quality album. Baby brother of 2112 in a way
