spiritual healing is kinda underrated for sure, in a way its like the archetype of a solid all around dm album that is neither too aggressive nor too proggy or techy. but even that one still blows most of its competition out of the water tbh
poison's a neat obscurity for sure yeah, that crazy thrashy death thats arguably close to black as well
nme's unholy death
slaughter's strappado
morbid's december moon
a lot of brazilian stuff like chakal, mutilator, vulcano
deathstrike, necrovore, necrodeath, massacra, num skull, i doubt there's any you haven't heard after this many years

actually there's a couple polish bands i could recommend that you might not have heard, imperator and dragon
the latter's fallen angel album especially
arachnid's self titled demo from 1992 as well, very morbid saint feeling

hey every once in a while piss sends me some shit i didnt know, he keeps askin me to check out devastation from chicago but i only know the colorful album cover texas counterparts lol
if vader had disbanded after the necrolust demo they'd be elite! i do agree with benediction, vader, and about 1000000 other bands being overall "average" but im so into dm it just doesnt bother me. like if i was going solely by originality id have maybe 20 dm records rated above a 3.5 but shit like deicide s/t is just flawless music to me and way catchier than, like, idk the new ulcerate or something

i got some really cool early polish thrash cd off either DDR or maybe nuclear war now thats pretty sweet for like, 84/85 but i cant remember the name of the band. the singer wasnt very good but it was fun

i mean i remember playing cosmogenesis and omnivium when they came out and just thinking it was riff salad, if they were instrumental they could just forego any attempts at songwriting which is kinda what they wanna do anyway. im sure the guy from obscura was good on that death for all tour but i missed it

i especially dig the pre-dissonance stuff of 87-91 where there was a lingering thrash sound and a lot of catchiness in dm, then again im pretty much into most of the various offshoots but theres just something to the simplicity of when dm didnt really have any artsy aspirations that makes cancer and shit like that so endearing and perfect for when im in that mood

not a lot just a little
suicmez' compositional chops are definitely leagues above most of the tech death bands they inspired
but i guess im just more partial to stuff like atheist and gorguts and whatnot

i dont think theyre by the numbers tbh, tracks like stillborn one and seven are way more dynamic tempo-wise (groovin like suffocation) than a lot of pure wank bands
