I don't find "Leisureforce" to be very sinister at all - it feels like more of a hopeful track than some of the other ones here. "Fryerstarter", despite its lyrical content, is actually a pretty dark tune. Same with "Cycles to Gehenna," too.
Actually, now that you mention it I find a ton of tracks here to be really sinister. "Saturn Missiles" is a really dark track, as are the "Crows" tracks.
Are you referring to lyrical content, Anarchist? If that's the case, maybe I missed that aspect of "Leisureforce."

no, maybe I'm not explaining it properly cos I have a knack for using the wrong words and not making
myself clear with these things
It's just that feeling of rising up, opening in anticipation of something and creating an epic
feeling atmosphere with the instruments and harmonies. a lot of it is to do with the instrumental
textures in the song, the tremolos and progressions. hard to describe, it just incites a familiar
feeling which I love in music but find hard to pin point
when I say sinister I don't mean "dark", (although I don't find it hopeful either)

No worries, man. It can be hard to find the right words to explain something intangible. that's why reviewing can be really
tough sometimes.
I do understand what you mean with "Leisureforce." I think the song's intro just irks me; it's too abrupt for my liking, and
the rest of the song isn't really distinctive enough for me. Granted, I like the song itself, but compared to the rest of the
music we have here I much prefer the rest of this album.
The only other songs I don't care for much are "Ruby '81" and "Gopher Guts." The latter does contain some incredibly
personal content from Aesop, which I'm all over, but the rest is too ambiguous for my liking.

I'll give this all some more time to sink in

Hell yeah. He's awesome live, too: the show was one of my favorites from this year.
|

He played near me during Hurricane Sandy so I couldn't go.
Bet it was awesome
