minus every song from Terrible Incognitus
Disagree.
If you ask me, Clone, Lizard Skin, Deliverance, Fire Is Everything and In The Forest are some of the best songs of their entire career. Then there are a couple of decent tracks like Space Time. But the rest of the album is awful...
The Link has the same issue.
The only Gojira album that is consistently great is FMTS.

Their best album so far. I don't find that the front half of the album lagged at all. Why do so many feel the need to categorize them?

i am having a hard time maintaining interest in listening to the whole record. it's like chugga chugga chugga the whole time

Yeah, I still don't get the Meshuggah comparisons, and my nose is bleeding trying to figure out where LoG figures into this. The author of the review even threw Hacride, who sound nothing at all like Gojira, into the discussion. The French Connection?
All fine bands, no doubt, but besides playing metal with harsh vocals, they span the spectrum.
BTW, The Gift of Guilt alone makes this album destroy souls. I'll drop at least a 4 once I get a full handle on the whole arrangement.

Silentpotato you should change your avatar. Kingsoby1's is more original/better looking.

I can't decide myself on a rating for this one. While I don't really enjoy the album, nor their other albums, I really try to understand why they are so highly praised. I also agree that there is nothing progressive in this band, their song writing is pretty straightforward and riff based.
Great review, pos.

I love this album, The Axe and Mouth of Kala are my two favorites. I'm not surprised that some people aren't really into them though, kind of like how I fucking adore Meshuggah but I totally get why people don't like them either. They have a very unique sound, and that can't speak to everyone.

I don't really know what to rate this though...I don't like it as much as FMTS, but I do like it more than WOAF

the drums are always what win me over with gojira. the riffs are often a bit generic, but the drums add enough dynamic to keep it super interesting.

Gojira are plenty progressive. Especially on this album.

"Gojira are plenty progressive. Especially on this album."
They're pretty straight-forward over here.
|

Gojira are more progressive than say Morbid Angel or Bloodbath. I can totally see why people call this band progressive even if I don't think so myself.
