I honestly wish I was in it deeper. Me and my bassist friend have always wanted to put a band together but we don't know anyone who likes our music (aside from my ex). Certainly not out west, brocore is the standard out here, but we'd be willing to travel a bit but just don't know anyone. How do people ever find enough like minds to create a band.

I hear you so much dude. I've been trying to put together a band for so long now (I jam on the mic and bass) but again, I only know one guy who likes my music, and he's studying a triple degree in science/engineering/law right now so he has absolutely no spare time. Right now I'm just putting together some demos on my own and I'm apparently contributing vocals to a friend's home studio metal band, but that's about it.
I know. It's fucking frustrating as hell. Unless you're into genericore or Metallica there's really no outlet for local music.
Case in point: the guys who wrote that horribly tacky theme song for the Wanderers, Exit Row. They were originally a metal band from my high school six or seven years ago but changed to generic alt rock because they finally gave up on maintaining a serviceable lineup for that kind of music out here.

Holy shit that Exit Row song is so boring. I cheer for the Wanderers, but kinda shitty having a generic as fuck rock band riding the coat tails to success

Yeah, it's painful to listen to. I don't really follow sport, so I won't have to hear it much, but still. It just seems like such a calculated grab for fame.
You going to Deftones then, Northie?

Yeah I dont typically either but it's been hard not to get caught up in the Wanderers story.
And fuck oath I will be. I know a lot of people going (including my dad which is lol and my ex - whose ticket I have - which is less lol). Take it you're going too?

I didn't even know they existed until everyone I knew went crazy when they reached the semi finals. The whole bandwagon thing was insane this past month.
Damn straight. I couldn't pass up seeing Deftones and letlive together. I've seen them both before and they were both amazing.
Ouch. What a coincidence, that happened to me the last time they were out here too. It's a shitty feeling alright. Though it's cool your old man likes Deftones.
I'll probably be the guy with the goatee and the Isis shirt. Feel free to say hi, by all means.

@ Captain and Butkuiss Awesome to see some other Aussies on here, I'm from Katoomba. Didn't know about that 'Tones concert in Sydney till I saw you mention it here - would love to go, but damn it's expensive...

It's cheap as chips when you consider that letlive are playing too, who are just as good as Deftones in my eyes. That's $40 a band, which isn't too bad.

True that, but I still don't really have that much money to throw out. letlive are great but not quite as good as Deftones IMO, although both bands would put on a fucking great show. Hope you guys have a good one there, I'm jealous as all hell.

Oh really? I guess I'm based closer to them so they've been a big deal out here from the get go.
Deftones are one of my favourites so I'm willing to chip out a fair bit for them. And at least this time they have a good opener, last time it was a fucking joke. But yeah, when I saw them a few years ago, one of the best concert experiences of my life.
Yeah dude, I'll be the guy in the green wheelchair, I'm sure you'll see me before I see you haha. And yeah, doesn't help that I'm still in love with her and she is waaaay over me now. Like, sleeping with half the town over.

Yeah, probably. It was just fascinating to watch the hype train take its course.
I can still remember the beer cans getting pegged at The Only when they were playing last time. I still can't tell whether that was meant to be a joke on Deftones' part or not. It was just weird.
Deftones, on the other hand, were spectacular. They pulled off their Adrenaline and Around the Fur material particularly well last time.
Ha, touche. I'll be sure to keep a look out.
Man, I don't know if its a viable option or not, but I'd just get a mutual friend to drop it off with her and be done with it. Gotta give yourself as much distance as possible when shit like this goes down.

"I think it's a joke the bands themselves started and then it turned into something serious. Just a bunch of (fairly diverse) bands that tend to play together and collaborate a lot. Pianos, La Dispute, Defeater, Title Fight, Touché Amore are the main ones"
It was never really serious
They said it was something sort of like a "Tree house club", in that it was just a way to advance in the scene together, but by now, it's pretty much pointless
It was made by Defeater, La Disputer, Pianos, Touche and Make Do and Amend
But anyway, this is pretty sweet

Yeah so I was mostly accurate. And I didn't mean serious by them, more their fan base has turned it into an actual thing. Title Fight seems to be bundled in with them these days at least
|
| |
Yea was mostly adding to what you said
I'm not sure how much they've expanded on it but I'm pretty sure there are around 2 or 3 more bands that've been added
