Listened to this again, has to be over ten times now. Not feeling it. Considering the amount of people I know who have good tastes that liked this I've been desperately trying to "get" it. On the contrary, listening to the newest Roots and CunninLynguists pretty much affirm my views about this album as a whole.

Now if he drops the whole stoner, swag and otherwise uninspired lyrics and displays some sense of being an emcee while keeping the same level of production, I'll be impressed.

If you're impressed by Cunninlynguist lyrics and think these are uninspired, then it's pretty easy to get why you don't like this.

Also, it rustles my jimmies when people only give Clams credit for the album because ASAP's a fantastic emcee (so are most of the guests outside of ScHoolboy Q), and the other producers are fantastic, from Soufein3000 to ASAP Ty Beats to Beautiful Lou to DJ Burn One to blahblahblah.

"this guy's flow is garbage!"
Nope. It can only be assumed that you don't know much about Southern or hip-hop.

"I gotta say, I like 808s and Black Grapes II more than this"
I really like 808s but I feel like this is a lot more consistent and I like the atmosphere a lot more. You should check out MondreMAN's new mixtape M A N, though. Really good solo mixtape of one of the Main Attrakionz members.

Meh. The Unseen is only decent. My favorite other stoner rappers are Devin the Dude, Curren$y. Then again it depends on what you mean by "stoner rap" since the grand majority of my favorite rappers just love to talk about the amount they smoke or the drugs they put in their body.

Yeah. It doesn't showcase anywhere near Madlib's better beats and while the rapping is weird and trippy, it's not very strong.

You should really dig Spaceghostpurrp's mixtapes if you can appreciate old school Memphis horrorcore. Like old Triple Six Mafia/Koopsta Knicca/Kingpin Skinny Pimp shit. Except it's even more psychedelic, trippy and insane.

Actually the rapping on this album itself is done really well. It has great flow, timing, the cadence is always spot-on and his rhyme schemes can end up being pretty complex if he wants them to. Unless you're referring to his subject matter, which wud be dum.

considering subject matter is kind of irrelevant in hip-hop quality, or I guess music quality in general. But I guess I would give The Unseen props for attacking the "stoner rap" angle in a more creative way than ASAP (in terms of just the emceeing), but other than that well yeah.
