Absolutely love the "black metal" type influence they supposedly had on this record. I think it shows best on the first two tracks, especially the second. I love how it starts out in a major key sounding very pop-like, and then out of no where takes an unexpected turn to a very dark key.
This band found a very unique voice on this record, and in the process have created my album of the year so far.

Good point Philalethes. I definitely am digging the "black metal" influence. These songs are definitely darker than any of their other material and yet somehow warmer in a lot of parts. I love this album. Easily one of my favorites of the year, if not THE favorite.
