Fuck you prog faggot. Im gonna take you out back and give you a pear of anguish, or if im feeling froggy, ill introduce you to the breast ripper. Your blasphemous words on death metal have chilled me to the core.

Looks like this is objectively worse than Orchid; worse than the prototype Opeth album. Interesting..

I was a bit disappointed by this album. Opeth is one of my favorite bands and to see them pretty much drop their signature sound completely is certainly a blow to the head for me. I mean, they haven't quit being Opeth, but they aren't the Opeth I grew to love. I know they are trying to do something different and fresh, but I just don't like this direction too much. Don't get me wrong, the songs are good, but there is A LOT lacking on this album. Personally, none of Mikael's singing really stood out to me like it does on every other Opeth album. It just seems so strung together. I guess it seemed so much more epic when he was growling and switching to cleans. As well, from what I've heard, the lyrics are horrible. All of Opeth's lyrics in the past have been beautiful and poetic with dark twists and turns. These lyrics, however, don't stand out at all. They just seem.....really cheesy. I really wanted to love this but I have to be truthful about my thoughts on this album. Its still great, but not amazing...
