I'm always waiting for them to write an awesome album, because I think they have it in them, but they never do. I just feel like their songs go nowhere.

Well take it for what it is but I haven't heard a Thrice album since The Illusion of Safety and I enjoyed this one when I picked it up. It's certainly different but still good stuff.

I liked the first two songs but I haven't heard the rest because my download was poor quality.

I think this is a solid album, but definitely not the best of 2011. I find it funny that Thrice is judged on how closely they hug a certain genre. They get lauded for the experimental side of Vheissu, but condemned for the minimalist approach to Beggars.
This album is their most radio friendly, arena rock like album to date. It just dawned on me as I was listening to it in my car on my way home from work. There's nothing incredible unique about 80% of the album, its just standard, straightforward Thrice. Perhaps that's what so enticing about them to Sputnik readers. It's a great album, no doubt, but its far from their best, and far from the best of the year.

got a bit of a jesu vibe in some songs (instrumentally, not vocally), Listen Through Me especially.

Oh and btw this fucking rules. Anthology is like the perfect combination of Air and Vheissu which makes me want to buttfist this band
