This has always been between a 3.5 and a 4 for me. I mean it sounds good and it's consistent (outside of the first few tracks) but it just doesn't sound hugely cohesive regardless of being a concept album. Some songs are just gorgeous and well-written, tho.
I feel like his debut in a few months will be an insta-5, tho.
also Ab-Soul's album coming next Friday gonna be craaaazy.

I think this is good but overrated, I think the biggest thing about it is that it showcased Kendrick's obvious potential for leading hip-hop.
and I still didn't care for Phonte.

lol the best song. Yeah, it's just so cheesy. I mean at first I LOVED it because I was like, "Awh man, talking about race over a piano beat? This is as REAL as it gets"
then over time, I realized the song really doesn't give anything and it's full of corny lines and cliches.
