It seems to be missing creativity. I mean, it's great music, and it's better than a lot of post-rock out recently, but... it doesn't really do anything new. It adds some epic horns, puts in an interesting concept, and takes a few vocal ideas from Mouth Of The Architect, and the result is pretty good.

But it feels like they just slapped on a new coat of paint to an old car; seems better, but underneath it is the same ol' machine. That's my thought after a few listens, anyways.

people seem to have this low expectation of (new) post-rock just because they're fed the idea that it all sucks nowadays, I think

Word. It's missing loads of creativity. Everything you said is spot on. Good album but nothing more.

Great album, but just like their last one, it drags a bit in places - enough to stop it blowing your mind. But when they get it right, damn they do...

It's wearing off of me bit by bit. Granted, it will certainly remain a 4.5, but I don't know if it quite has the lasting appeal for a 5, at least in my mind.

Ugh, why did I hold off on listening to this so long.

Journey to the Plains literally had me giddy it was so good.

A lot of this reminds me of Welcome to Bangkok from Devil and God and that's an great thing to sound

like.

I agree, the thing made me feel almost euphoric upon the first listen.

I can see where you kinda get that sound, I suppose it does sound similar to that song.

I'd say 3 is a fair rating. I'm gonna bump mine down, maybe, sooner or later.

it wasn't as bad as I initially thought, but still didn't really do anything for me

it made for a pleasant fishing experience though
