I have to be in the mood for this album, but when I am there really isn't anything else that will work.

Dream Theater going super primitive and copying mainstream bands when they're supposed to be progressive, yeah totally misunderstood.

as i am is the only mainstream thing here. everything else is filled with the usual wankery i know and love
i mean the intro to this dying soul is immense

John Petrucci's totally mediocre wank on this album totally warrants a classic rating. I didn't say the songs were mainstream either, I said they reek of mainstream influence; there is quite a big difference. I also did not say that sounding mainstream is necessarily bad, but when you're a progressive band and the further you are into your career the more you draw from your influences, there is a big problem.

I'm sure I've heard As I Am before, but it was done by Metallica. Probably had other name, though.

Dream Theater lyrics are funny more times than they're actually good. I like the instrumental on here and "In the Name of God".

You think Stream Of Consciousness is funny? That song rocks.

Isn't Stream of Consciousness the instrumental? Am I missing something here?

Honor Thy Father is like, one of my favorite DT songs ever. Doesn't match Octavarium and 6DOIT, but still damn close to perfection. I love it.
