I really can't tell if this is genius or terrible yet. I've never heard of these guys until I clicked on this review, and I'm sensing a lot of great musicianship in this...giant.. direction-less mess. I don't think I'm fond of the female vocals. I could do without them, so far, and would enjoy this a lot more.

The bass is amazing, and this reminds me of something Devin Townsend would be behind.

Absolute mess. Sometimes you have the impression that 2 songs are playing at the same time.

Oh, they're from Montreal. That explains it. A bunch of frenchies trying way too hard to be quirky.
That being said, there's a lot of talent here, and I think Words is phenomenal, but they need to calm
down a bit and organize themselves.

Oh, and the death metal vocals are pretty decent, I have to say.

That kind of takes away the point of their music.

I don't mean lose their edge, I mean make songs distinguishable from themselves. It's okay to have many ideas and tempo/genre changes in a song, just not too many. They're good, they just need an extra bit of cohesion and distinction. Like Words.

Gotta admit though, it's growing on me.

I don't know if it's been mentioned but your review is mainly a compare/contrast. I personally think that you do too little talking about the album and just compare each musical aspect to their previous album. To someone like me who has no prior knowledge, this is a negative. Good writing, though.

I'm hopeful this wont be too messy, I liked portions of last album but can't listen to it fully. Streamed first couple tracks of this one and enjoyed it. They ooze talent, but they're bit hard to get into.

Why is this considered a rock album on this site?

Rock? Seriously?

Genre tags say: Progressive, Death Metal

^Look at the tabs up top of the page.

Anyway on first track and the production is amazing on my AD700s. Every single instrument has perfect clarity and the balance is superb.

No it doesn't. They pulled that off with an expert efficiency on their last album

I think that had something to do with the death metal tag not being the main entry. Prog could lean either way, but I guess here that falls under the rock category unless otherwise specified. I added metal as the main category, it should show up/change soon
