It's been said to death, but the cover is probably the worst album art ever. Like, literally ever.

Unpopular opinion maybe, but this isn't a music review...

Sorry Chan but I wasn't particularly fond of this "review". Too much rambling about Gaga and not a whole lot about the album itself.
Also, Gaga has always been a gimmick. Anyone who is carried into the grammys inside of a space pod is clearly doing it for the attention, not self expression.

so
this title is a rip off the book
born that way?
which was already mf dooms latest album name
and they thought no one would notice if they changed that to this?
|
| |
as awesome as MFD is, i doubt she knows who he is or what his last album is named
|
| |
didn't really think that was a good review, but everyone to their own opinion.
I actually thought this album was a whole lot better than the fame and fame monster.

You just wrote probably the worst and most subjective review in the history of reviews! You are criticism is based only on the fact it's Gaga who you're writing about and all you are refering to is her persona. You said nothing about the music, nothing! The REAL music critics actually spoke about her music, they praised it. You are not a sociologist nor a psychologist, it's not your job to say what Gaga is doing, it's your job to write about her music, and you failed to do that. So this review is not a music review, it's your comment on her public image and it makes you, simply a lousy, pathetic journalist. You simply described how you feel about Gaga, and it makes this aricle, well, bad. You should be ashamed!

channing freeman's worst review could be sputnikmusic's worst ever! the worst review of 2011.

I don't see how this has already received so much criticism. Album of the year for me.

Okay review was not that bad, just not great.

Chan's negative reviews always seem to attract fans of that artist that have never been here and are all butt hurt by the review. Personally, I find it hilarious.

This does not seem like a review of This Album. This seems more like a strawman of her personality.
After reading this review i know absolutely nothing about any of these songs besides bad kids.
Have you noticed the comments which agrees with you? They are mostly, "Great review. I don't like lady gaga." or "Great review. Lady gaga sucks." or "Great review. This album sucks."
But i mean this is your zone and you can say what you like but to me it seem as if you are just trying to go against the grain.
The fame monster was entirely techno vomit with the exception of speechless. There is not a single song on the album that has as much over production than "Monster." Well...probably Highway unicorn.
But yeah. Is this how you do your other reviews?

He rated it negatively because the album was a near-failure.
He told you early on in the review that every song was about
"Being Yourself"
Different tune. Same message. That is a bland concept. It's been covered a thousand different times by a thousand different shock stars
IE
Marilyn Manson, Alice Cooper(I actually like him), Pink, among others.
I would expect someone as "intellectual" and "talented" as Lady Gaga to come up with a more untouched lyrical concept, or at the very least, something that doesn't cater directly to overweight female suburban youth and their abysmal sense of self-worth.

i mean, if gaga's message/personality is insufferable then it would follow that that would permeate the music, right?
and for what its worth, from Chan's review, I have a great idea of what this album sounds like

"i mean, if gaga's message/personality is insufferable then it would follow that that would permeate the music, right?"
Exactly. However, the title track is bearable. After that, however, the shit goes downhill.
And with song names like "Government Hooker" and "Heavy Metal Lover"
how much can you really expect out of this album?
I've heard the songs; they suck. All Gaga is, is a smarter, quirkier version of Brittany Spears...minus the alleged accounts of incestuous affairs.
|
| |
britney was accused of incest?
