Only reason I'm giving this a 3.5 is because I'm being careful, haven't listened to the album as a whole yet, but IMO it is def over 4, maybe 4.5 if it keeps growing on me. Don't really care if it's original or not, it does what it does and it does it exceptionally well. Reminds me of how I feel about Brand New (upon first listen): sure, it's all been done before but they took it and made it their own sound, just like with these guys.

Album is good, some of the songs aren't distinct enough for this to score much higher. Kind of similar to Junius' newest album.

I'm going to see them live tomorrow. It's a shame they'll play loads of songs from this and just a couple from Pneuma. this is album is really generic IMHO

Yeah its really a shame. I saw them last month and they sound pretty average when they play Waves material. Then they start playing some Pneuma and Foreword towards the end of the show and it it so good it gives you chills. Its like they don't feel comfortable playing the new stuff.

is this generic? people keep saying it sounds like every other post-hardcore album. but in terms of being a dense, reverby, big-sounding album, i'm not sure what else is like it. it doesn't sound like thrice, not riffy enough. it definitely sounds nothing like brand new. it sounds a lot like no devolucion; fair enough, thursday beat them to it. what else does it sound like? wouldn't mind some recs of albums that sound like this but do it better.

Sowing, I'm somewhat surprised with your rating on this. The band took a step in the "we really need a pay-check" direction, but not blindly. Choosing to simplify song structure does not necessarily mean choosing to shed talent.

However, I respect your opinion on the matter and I'm glad to see you managed to grab some enjoyment out of the album!

yeah this still has a more dense soundscape than most other post-hardcore albums out there, even if it does pull the band in a less unique direction. it's great. CosmicTiger, are you in some way affiliated with the band?
