Grohl seems like a guy with a lot of integrity - just because they enjoy making popular music doesn't mean they're obsessed with money.

As a huge fan of their first 2 albums, everything after that reeks of purpose - to make $$$
What Phleb said. Also, I'm pretty sure TCOS is probably poppier than this.

It's not because it's "popular music;" it's because it's "popular music" that lacks substance. Try to tell me you think "Wheels" (which is what a few of these tracks reminded me of, *cough* BACK AND FORTH *cough*) is of the same quality as "Monkey Wrench" or "Hero."

I'm not sure what you mean by substance. I don't look for any deep themes within anthemic rock music, just simple, effective lyrics and good tunes. Hero is an amazing song, but there are plenty of tracks here better than Monkey Wrench.

Nothing on this is nearly as bad as that shitstain on their career.

Monkey Wrench isn't exactly an amazing song. There are several tracks on here as good if not better than it.

I actually liked Wheels. Not nearly as bad as it's made out to be.

Wheels was a good song for what it was; a shameless Tom Petty clone. Even Dave admitted that.

It's one of their weaker tracks, but I stand by the idea they've never written a terrible song.

anyway this album is alright but after a fairly strong start it just gets bland like most of the foo's material

I think a lot of people outgrow this band as they get older and start listening to more music. its decent mainstream rock and rather than saying their albums have got drastically worse over the years i think my tastes just matured. I probably would've loved this seven or eight years ago but now its just getting dull and predictable

i've been a foos fan for years, and in my opinion this is their best since the color and the shape.

Yeah, only immature children like anthemic rock music. You really know your stuff, speed2cruisecontrol.

its more that it strives to be anthemic but instead gets formulaic and predictable after a few tracks

they did all this a lot better on their first three albums
