Raindrops is indeed great, and Blue Skies is good but I feel like - in the form it is here - that one and Crying Tree sharing the same album (in the same 3-track span, no less) is a bit much

you know what song that wasn't included on this album is really fucking good?

Never thought of them sharing that space as a problem but I can see that I guess

Songs pretty good ye, but my favorite that didn't make it on to either of the Machinas is the goth version of Satur9

well honestly I don't really give a shit anymore, it is what it is (and I've actually included 2 additional tracks on my own playlist of the record, so not exactly arguing for cuts anymore lol)

but the first couple of times I heard this record, having two of those kind of sludging, dark downtempo tunes so close together at the end was jarring

for some reason, after SIYL ends I'm always expecting the intro to Sacred + Profane

truth be told I love damn near every track on this thing

Machina era is one of the most bizarre and interesting times in this band's career, imo

I'll second you on it being bizarre, but it's also my least favorite from them haha even given how good the highlights are

Machina II on the other hand is much better

Machina II coulda been better but man it's so "mp3-tastic"

in any case I can't believe how delayed the reissue has been given how relatively good they were about those first 4 + the b-side compilations

sometimes quality doesn't make or break it but for an album like that one... sheesh

the power of the performances & most of the songs shine through tho, at least

Yes but the production of machina is awful, the songs are TOO compressed.

Raindrops and sunshowers sounds like it was being played on a low quality speaker.

I was talking solely about Machina II there

I actually quite like this one's production, powerful & crushing where it needs to be and lush for songs like SIYL & This Time. the reissue I'm excited about mostly for the "debut" of the album as it was actually meant to be released, which would have been a double album & all that
