Unlike all other nu-metal I've listened to, I feel that Slipknot actually has some staying power. Iowa is genuinely heavy and the experimental attempts on Vol. 3 are pretty well done. I dunno, I don't like them an inordinate amount, but Vol. 3 is probably a 3.5 and Iowa's a 3 (maybe 2.5).

I disagree. Surfacing has a incredible riff, Mick#7 is a great axe man. Clown#6 makes it very interesting, incorporting metallic steel drum keg beats into the whole mix, and Sid#0 is such a great DJ, his frantic work on (sic) was fantastic. The lyrics if you read them ,are very very dark, and the breakdowns remind me of the HxC scene these days. Hell, these guys are a trillion times better than the rubbish B4MV or A7X. masscows, I agree with the first thing you said but sort of disagree with the second...Joey is only decent, but I dunno, I saw a vid of him in the studio and it couldn't keep up with his feet - they were a blur. And it wasn't a crappy quality vid either. But I do agree that many can do it better.

Although you didn't say much about the album itself, you still made a good review.

I cannot understand how someone cannot like this album. It's so unique and so awesome! My favorite song is "Liberate" which (in my opinion) should've been a hit.

This is a pretty horrible review.
first of all you can that this kid doesnt go to school because he spelled "mystery" with an "i"
yeah...nice one.
secondly, IOWA and Volume. 3 were both fucking amazing.
this obviously shows your single-mindedness and your inability to comprehend artistic expansion.
finally.
slipknot is not death metal.
sure, they incorporate a few elements from it, but they are far from being as extreme as a real death metal band.
honestly its pretty impossible to classify slipknot
they borrow so many elements from so many different genres.
they are one of the few original bands of their time.

only thing i don't like album this album is the slow moments. although i have to say a few were' just down right creepy.

this is not a classic, maybe for nu-metal it is. joey jordison is a real good drummer. above all, slipknot is overated. any sutpid kid thought it would bad *** to go buy a shirt with their "S" logo on it, but they have never struck a note with me. their popularity is partly due to the fact that anything heavier than their music wouldnt become mainstream.

Oh, Mudvaynian.

I'm inspired to review this album since all of the reviews over 4 are done by kids running around in orange jumpsuits.

LOL a kid I know said that they write deep lyrics and used that as an example. I thought it was the funniest thing I had ever heard.

He made me listen to the whole album, and the first half was hilarious, because these guys can barely write a riff, let alone a song. Towards the end, though, I just got tired of laughing and turned it off and told the kid he needed to get some taste.

When I was a freshman, I thought they wrote deep lyrics too :upset:

I think I might've even wrote some free-writing piece on one of their songs. God I was such a failure back in the day...

Eh. This album is not good. This band isn't really as bad as a lot of people think they are though. Terrible yes but not like "worst metal band ever" terrible. Just not fun to listen to and they have no skill.

The seven first tracks are really good when you're into it. It took me time to appreciate this album but when I did I really enjoyed it. Ah back in the days when I was young... ;)This Message Edited On 09.05.08
