Yay one ballad per album before. You denying that on Trendkill there was noticeably more progressive and atmospheric styles, instead of just WALK ON HOME BOI style Pantera?
^ yeah, and then they dropped it on Reinventing the Steel. Nice way to gloss over the fact that your ballad agrument was made to look retarded.

Yeah, but they just DID it. They didn't stroke their own dicks and call themselves 'trend killers' (well Metallica kinda did on KEA). They thrashed because they wanted to thrash, and openly slowed down when the time was calling for it. Metallica didn't write Load and Reload while gloating over how cool and un-trendy they were.

One ballad per album proves nothing. Trendkill had 3 full on ballads, and the rest of it was more atmospheric than usual.
I never said anything about RTS. Because it's irrelevant to this.

They thrashed when it cool, than on Trendkill once thrash was dead in the water they just happened to start trying out ballads
^ are you forgetting you said this?

and I could be getting old, but I only count 2 ballads on Trendkill. I count 2 on Vulgar.
Anyway, Vulgar destroys Trendkill, whatever the fucking motivation was.

What exactly does a single ballad on an album prove?
And way to cut off the 'progressive and atmospheric' part of that sentence.

I was referring to the fact you said they "happened to start trying out ballads" on Trendkill, when they had at least one, sometimes two, on the three albums before it.

Try one.
And what exactly is your point. You haven't exactly argued that Phil rode the trend wave as much as the people he liked to bash and call fake for it. And you've only attacked the ballads part and completely ignored the prog/atmosphere part of the equation, which is just as important.

Jesus, I couldnt care less about following trends, whatever. Is Trenkill more progressive? I wouldnt call it Progressive by any stretch, but yes, it is more "progressive" than Vulgar. This is also why Vulgar takes a giant shit on it. I care about how the record sounds, pure and simple. And I love how Vulgar sounds. Who gives a shit about trends.
And for the record, Trendkill is their worst album by a longshot (not counting the Power Metal days)
|

1. Trendkill is by far their most progressive work.
2. Quality is not the issue here.
3. I don't give a fuck about trends either, I just laugh at douche chunks who call everyone around them fakes for riding the trend wave, and then do the same themselves. Hence my description of Phil as a hypocritical, scene kid douche.
