Blood through to Marbles is possibly the best four song run on any album ever

You're not wrong Zak 😂

Doof I find "Whiskey and Water" a little better than "Marbles" but both are top-notch

Jury's still out on Elliott ;-P

I will say this feels a bit bloated on first spin (pretty bold to do a double album as your debut, 21 songs is a big ask) but there's certainly a lot of quality. And all the National comparisons I've heard (or more properly, comparisons of The National to Tindersticks) are certainly well-founded, the vocals especially sound almost exactly like Matt Berninger circa Sad Songs and Alligator.

'Fraid to say I've been listening to a Soulseek download due the album's (relatively recent?) removal from Spotify.

I'm digging this a lot but it does feel like the sort of thing that won't fully click till I return to it after some time off. I do find myself wishing it were a bit of a tighter listen even if it is very consistent.

Weird, I was listening to this on Spotify less than an hour ago. Must be a regional thing

Zak I'm definitely planning a discog run for these so I'll hear that soon enough. May just go ahead and check the new one next though.

'It’s all about Tindersticks II boney mate.'

The debut is the genius outlier, the splurge of total manic genius, sets out the blueprint for every song that follows pretty much...some they don't really bother returning to much if at all ('Tyed', 'Her', 'Drunk Tank').

Tindersticks II sets up their modus operandi...and then they pretty much stick to that from then on give or take.

Basically they go from 30% string laden ballads to 70% string laden ballads. I'll always love the 'none-more-indie'ish'ness of the debut, it showcases everything they can do except maybe the out and out soul stuff that came later, but II and Curtains are absolute quality.
